The Impact accelerator gives fresh, global talent the opportunity to share their voices with the world by empowering them with the instruction, knowledge, and resources that we have distilled and codified from over 35 years of our founders’ experiences of bringing stories to life.
The Program
Impact’s dynamic creative program is designed to turn an idea into a sellable screenplay, teleplay or presentation in just eight weeks.
Selected Creators are paired with a Shaper - a best-in-class screenwriter or showrunner - who work with Creators to help break story, craft characters, offer ideas, give notes, and push Creators to produce their best work at the accelerated pace of our program.
The Application
Impact’s immersive application asks questions that are essential for every writer to answer when pitching their project. Designed by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, and top industry writers and executives, our application reflects the questions that we ask ourselves about each of our projects. Even if not admitted to the Impact program, those who complete the application will gain valuable insight into their characters, their world, and themselves, which can be used to further develop and revise their future projects.
The Speakers
A key goal of the Impact accelerator is to impart our Creators with a wealth of knowledge not only about writing - but about how to strive for and build a successful career. Each week of the program features a keynote speaker, from leading writers to business leaders to athletes and more, to share their unique insights and inspire our Creators.
Pitch Day
The Impact accelerator program culminates in Pitch Day - an invite-only industry event where Creators pitch their Impact projects to a room of hundreds of producers and buyers from all over town. This event gives Creators direct access to executives from companies such as A24, Amazon, Apple, Bad Robot, Blumhouse, HBO, Hello Sunshine, NBC, Netflix, Scott Free, Universal, and more!
Community
Once you are accepted into an Impact program, you immediately become part of the Impact family. Between the collaborative hub of Creators and Shapers and our online alumni community, we aim to give our network of ambitious creative talent the room to collaborate, mentor, support each other, and become lifelong friends as they grow in their careers.
impact LA
Impact launched its flagship accelerator program in Los Angeles in September 2018. Since then, Impact has welcomed over 70 Creators from 5 countries to Los Angeles to participate in the program. Thus far our alumni’s projects have been picked up by Netflix, Legendary, FX, and more; and our Creators have been signed by major agencies and management companies, including WME, CAA, UTA, Verve, Anonymous Content, Management 360, Writ Large, 3Arts, and more.
impact Australia
Impact Australia is Impact’s first internationally-based accelerator program, launched in partnership with Screen Australia, Gentle Giant Media Group, VicScreen, and other Australian federal and state government agencies in 2020. The first two years of the program saw 23 of the best writers from across the nation complete the rigorous accelerator to incredible success. The program will commence again in Melbourne this September 2022.
