Emma Dockery
Emma Dockery grew up in suburban New Zealand and spent her childhood watching so much US television people used to ask her what part of the America she was from. After moving across the Tasman to Australia she began a career in casting, specialising in directing actors. Her credits include some of Australia’s most celebrated films and television series: THE HOBBIT, UPRIGHT, OFFSPRING, NOWHERE BOYS, CLOUDSTREET, GALLIPOLI and THESE FINAL HOURS. In 2016, she formed GENERATOR PICTURES with producing partner Katia Nizic, aiming to create diverse screen stories with a focus on putting women in front and behind the camera in meaningful roles. Together they optioned the feminist bestseller THE NATURAL WAY OF THINGS by Charlotte Wood, to adapt to screen. In 2019, she produced and directed OUT OF OFFICE, the debut solo show for drag queen Karen from Finance, selling out houses in both Australia and New Zealand.
