Julia Moriarty spent her first career travelling the globe swinging a tennis racquet and competed in 38 countries between 2008-2015 on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Tour.

After graduating from the University of New South Wales with an English degree and a First Class Honours in Creative Writing, Julia moved to Los Angeles to complete her Masters in Screenwriting at the University of California Los Angeles (2019). Whilst studying, Julia undertook internships at Dan Halsted’s management company – Manage-ment, and in the monologue department at Conan.

Prior to UCLA, Julia was Scholarships Founder and Facilitator for John Moriarty Football (soccer), a not-for-profit program which uses sport as a vehicle for well-being and educational opportunities for Aboriginal children.

As a writer back in Australia, Julia has been involved in projects for Easy Tiger Productions, Matchbox Pictures, Fremantle Media, Jungle Entertainment, Made Up Stories, Rough Diamond, Tamarind Tree Pictures, Ambience Entertainment and Oombarra Productions. Julia was the script coordinator and trainee editor on the second season of the AACTA award winning drama series, Total Control for Blackfella Films.
