Kai Gero Lenke

Kai is a director, writer, and producer from Germany. He studied CREATIVE WRITING at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig and the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel/Bienne. From 2012 to 2015 he attended COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY in the City of New York where he received his MFA in DIRECTING and SCREENWRITING. He is a recipient of scholarships by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the German Academic Exchange Service, the German National Academic Foundation, and the Wim Wenders Foundation.

As a filmmaker, he produced, wrote, and/or directed short films in Australia, Lebanon, Germany, Norway, and the US. His films have been screened at numerous international film festivals and received several awards.

In 2018 he was hired as the head writer for NEVER TOO LATE FOR JUSTICE, a crime drama TV series produced by UFA Fiction/ZDF in Berlin. Subsequently, he also wrote for the long-running German crime show LETZTE SPUR BERLIN.

In recent years he began to shift his creative focus away from crime to more playful and thought-provoking high-concept stories. His favorite genres are absurd comedy-dramas and science-fiction.

He is currently developing the sci-fi drama ECHOES, which will be produced by NIKO FILM BERLIN and NADCON ("Millennium Trilogy", "The Bridge"); as well as THEY JUST DON’T LIKE YOU ANYMORE for NETFLIX through the IMPACT ACCELERATOR PROGRAM.

He lives in Norway and Germany.
