Sunanda Sachatrakul

Sunanda is a comedian, actor, writer and producer from New Delhi, Bangkok, Los Angeles and New York... all at once. They most recently moved to Melbourne for love and it looks like they might be legally "Australian" soon, although they've only built a strong attachment to Vegemite and Golden Gaytimes. As a producer, Sunanda has an award-winning feature film, an award-winning music video (among the 30 or so they've worked on), and the career-launching "I Heart NY" webisode for Broad City as their claims to something faintly resembling fame. As a comedian, they received a highly coveted Best Newcomer nomination at the 2022 Melbourne International Comedy Festival for their autobiographical stage show, "Sunanda Loves Britney" about their queerness and obsession with Britney Spears. They have performed at SF Sketchfest and other US festivals, as well as toured Asia with Magner's International Comedy Festival after winning Bangkok's Big V stand up competition. Sunanda has written and performed sketch comedy as part of the CBS Diversity Sketch Showcase and for several house teams at theaters in Los Angeles including Upright Citizens Brigade and The Groundlings. They've only recently forayed into screenwriting, and took part in AFTRS Talent Camp VIC 2022. They mostly pull from their rich and complex experiences shaped by living in multiple cities, growing up in an insular Punjabi community in Thailand, being queer and masc gender non-binary, and being a dark skinned South Asian AFAB in several different contexts. Sometimes, they also just want to make comedy about their really stretched out pair of underwear that they've owned for 20 years and can't emotionally part with. When they're not writing, they're working as a clown doctor, because what better way to take the piss out of what their parents wanted for them then to put the word "clown" in front of it.

Sunanda is a Creator from Victoria.
